I wound up propping the frame up on my knee, holding the level in one hand, and steadying myself with the other. Although this is not an everyday task for me, if I had to do this multiple times I could see where Lean practices could help to fix the situation. Overall, a great post and very relatable story!

I never thought as a “three handed job” as a waste of motion until after reading this post. I think it was pretty cool that you chose to alter the design of the product so that there was a need to fixture the product during assembly. An outside the box idea that helps to eliminate the need for a three handed job.

I love doing at home tasks and construction like jobs and these three hand jobs are the worst. I always try to configure ways to hold something up while still trying to use both my hands. I always try to find someone to help out but if no ones around then you just have to figure it out on your own. There are tools to help you with certain construction jobs but when it comes to other areas like in a factory you would need a whole other tool to help you out. I wish someone invented a robot hand you can use to help you out.
